One of my favorite forms of art is glass sculpture. Its something I’ve never really been able to afford to own, but it fascinates me. I love the fire aspect of it. I love the color. I love the requirement for speed, vision and dexterity that blowing and sculpting glass demands. It takes years to perfect such a craft before you get to a stage where you’ll see your stuff listed in galleries for thousands of dollars….and even longer for an artist to get listed in a gallery that offers prices only upon request.
Anyone who knows me well would certainly understand why I love the fire aspect of it too. Fire and I are good friends…and I adore anything that’s made by it.
Below is some work that I enjoyed looking at from the Holsten Galleries. These are a variety of artists and display a number of specific skills to create what you see.

This is a working Chandalier by Dale Chihuly

This style of art is an imitation of the Japanese flower arrangement art called Ikabari. It is also by Dale Chihuly

This is called ’seaforms’ . It is also by Dale Chihuly

This one is called Concerto by Lino Tagliapietra. I just love this geometric form.

This is by Lino Tagliapietra and its called Batman.

This piece too requires great skill and is an utterly unconventional use of the glass art form as it mimics what tribal people do with wood and stone. Its done by William Morris.

This one is called “Clear to Blue” by John Kuhn.
