Maine has alot of culture. Perhaps far more than ‘folks from away’ realize. We’ve some incredibly good summer stock in our small local theaters and very good dinner theaters. We’ve got lots of musicians, singers, poets and song writers here. We’re a talented group. We’ve produced some good prime time news anchors *winks* and some great athletes, but didja know we’ve got some terrific artists too? I thought I’d share a few links and images here. I hope you enjoy them. Each artist is new to me, so I had some fun looking. *smiles*
Here’s something from Michael Fraser.
And below are some paintings by Elisabeth Fraser, Michael’s sister. I think you’ll also find that she some other work on this site that’s even better than her own website:
And then there’s Tom Gagnon. He’s got some really lovely and unusual abstracts at this site. Again, this site illustrates his work better than his own site, so I hope you’ll check it out.
Now I spent only five minutes searching Google for Maine artists. These are the ones that I found on the first search page. Here’s a single image from several other artists that I just don’t have time to do a really good review of:
He’s got some terrific architectural studies. Very worthy of investigation!
PaperLight is the only artist that I’m familiar with. Lovely work:
Bonny Spiegel is another artist with work that’s just bursting with color. Her site is very protected, so I couldn’t display any of her work, but you’ve just got to check out the fish series. Wow…that’s all I can say about it. A very talented lady!
Catherine Breer is another artist who loves color. Her sight just leaps off the screen. Her florals are wonderful and I really do like some of her abstract stuff too.
Claudia Diller is another really terrific artist that I’m sure you’ll find interesting. She’s given to panoramic viewpoints in her work. Very interesting.
